St. Edmund’s Chapter of the Daughters of the King
Who Are the Daughters of the King?
The Order of the Daughters of the King is organized as a lay religious order. Each Daughter takes a lifetime vow to live by the rule of the Order. Our Rule of Life requires a spiritual discipline, of daily prayer, service and evangelism. Because of our vows, we refer to ourselves as an order, not an organization. Our bylaws prohibit us from raising funds.
Mission of the Order
The mission of this order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through prayer, service and evangelism.
The Motto of the Order
For His Sake ….
I am but one but I am one,
I cannot do everything. but I can do something
What I can do, I aught to do
What I aught to do, by the grace of GOD I will do.
Lord, what will you have me do?
Our Chapter
The St. Edmunds chapter was chartered in 2006. We meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month from October through June. We have a prayer list which is up dated as needed at our meetings, by phone request, and through e-mail messages to members. (Only first names are used.) We have also taken the responsibility of contributing personal products such as toothpaste, tooth brushes, soap, shampoo, toilet tissue etc. to DeSoto Cares Homeless Services.
We are one of 36 chapters in the Diocese of Southwest Florida. All 36 chapters in the diocese are invited to participate in two meetings a year held in the Spring and Fall at Day Spring Camp and Conference Center .
We welcome visitors and Daughters who are winter residents to join us. Anyone interested in becoming a member should speak to a Ruth Adams, Father Jim, or Deacon Robert. To become a member one must complete a study which takes about six weeks. One of our members is a mentor to guide the study. We would love to have you join us in this wonderful ministry.
